Cross-border settlement layer for a UK fintech
Challenge
A London-based payments company was losing 3–5 days and significant margin on correspondent banking routes for emerging-market remittances.
Approach
Alphaveta evaluated six Layer-1 and Layer-2 protocols against the client's throughput, finality, and compliance requirements. We designed a hybrid architecture using a permissioned sidechain for settlement with public chain anchoring for auditability.
Outcome
Settlement time reduced from T+3 to under 4 hours. Annual correspondent banking fees cut by £2.4M. Regulatory approval obtained within the existing e-money licence scope.
